About Eric Harr

Eric Harr: MadMan 2.0

Eric Harr is an award-winning, traditional PR and communications executive with 10 years of experience—and is widely-recognized as one of the leading social strategists and integrated marketers in the world. He brings old-school creative to new-school media. In its November, 2011 issue, Forbes Magazine referred to him as: “The MadMan 2.0,” a reference to AMC’s television series, MadMen.

He is the author of the national best-selling book on social media: “The Real Truth About Social Media: 8 Timeless Truths Revealed and 8 Monumental Myths Uncovered” available online and in brick-and-mortar bookstores nationwide.

Mr. Harr is also the Founder & President of Resonate Social, a boutique, integrated marketing agency with clients such as HP, The Four Seasons, Lexus, Tag Heuer, Rain-X, The Conference Board, Clover-Stornetta and Mollie Stone’s. He built the company from the ground up and bolstered growth in a wavering economy. The business was profitable within 32 days of launching and within a 10-month period, Mr. Harr grew it to an $8 million business with 12 full-time employees.

Mr. Harr has designed and deployed dozens of integrated social campaigns and has overseen all traditional print/broadcast media and PR outreach, community management and influencer engagement for a wide range of clients—successfully aligning social media with traditional marketing strategies and measuring non-financial outcomes, as well as financial impact, in an industry-leading proprietary dashboard technology he co-developed called “SocialSee.” The technology is the first to calculate, in real-time, a company’s Return on Investment (ROI) from social media. It will be released in March, 2012.

Mr. Harr has an exclusive “red velvet rope” policy, only engaging with a select number of clients who meet a strict set of criteria. He has worked with small businesses to multinational corporations, helping them establish and scale their social communities with engaged audience reach into the tens of millions. He has also designed award-winning social campaigns for clients including: HP Veer Peer, CARE I Am Powerful Workout and SlimeCares. His clients have realized sales increases up to 571% (via new product launches, website optimization, ad creative and e-commerce) with cost savings up to 86% (via customer service improvements, PPC enhancements and reputation management services).

Mr. Harr is the new CBS News Social Media Expert having appeared on air for four years. He has appeared as an expert on FOX News, NBC, ABC, NPR, CBS Radio and in Marie Claire, The New York Times, The San Francisco Chronicle and The San Jose Mercury News.

Mr. Harr is a best-selling author of four books for Random House and Rodale, the Founding Editorial Director of VIV Magazine, the world’s first mass-market digital magazine (named after his daughter Vivienne). He is an Ambassador for CARE, a leading humanitarian organization. A global visionary, he launched an international health initiative for CARE to support the war on poverty and to raise funds and awareness for the organization. He has made substantial donations to CARE over the years and made a trip to Mozambique to see the effects of his work first-hand. In his words: “it changed me forever. It’s one reason why I got into social media: to unleash a world of social good.”

Mr. Harr is an accomplished writer. A former nationally-syndicated columnist with The Los Angeles Times Syndicate International (LATSI), his columns have appeared in People, USA Today, GQ, SHAPE and Men’s Health and in major market newspapers including The New York Daily News, The Miami Herald and The San Francisco Chronicle.

Mr. Harr is an elite triathlete (ranked #6 in the Triathlon Pro Tour World Rankings in his first year) and recently finished 40th overall, and the 9th American, at the 2011 Ironman Triathlon World Championships in a time of 9:01:34. As part of this quest, he raised money and awareness for CARE.

He is the host of Resonate Radio, a bi-monthly radio show featuring news and newsmakers in the world of social media, including Guy Kawasaki, Brian Solis, Scott Stratten and Jay Baer.
